If you saw yesterday’s post then you probably took a tour of our new house and might recognize the kitchen! The kitchen is first on the list for a little makeover which is going to include paint, new door hardware and of course bringing in our own furniture...new bar stools and those sexy vintage-y green chairs that I love so much. We are undecided about the lighting...these fixtures are beauts but don’t give off a lot of light...which we discovered on one of our rainy day walk throughs. We will see what night time brings🖤🖤🖤 If you swipe you can see the beautiful pendant lights we are considering from @homedepotcanada in the event we decide to switch them out. Let me know what you think!
Now excuse me while I get back to another full day of packing!

@bentovim_design likes to take unremarkable materials — things you might not otherwise notice — and make them interesting. Take, for example, aluminum extrusions: “Can that be elevated to an elegant design piece?” he asked. Jonathan Ben-Tovim studied industrial design in Adelaide, Australia, and followed up with a master's in conceptual design from @designacademyeindhoven. In 2011, after several years in London, he opened his own studio in #Melbourne . For Jonathan, the starting point is always exploration. “You have to explore the limits of what’s possible if you can’t get huge quantities of stuff made overseas,” he said. “You have to be reasonably clever in how it’s produced.” When we met with Jonathan, he was working on a modular lighting and furniture system. “I really like this idea of this modularity,” he said. “I like these simple extrusions that are the basis of a whole bunch of products.” Jonathan compared his path to that of Jiro Ono — of “Jiro Dreams of Sushi” — in that learning about his craft will be a life-long effort. For now, he isn't interested in scaling up. “I want a sustainable practice that allows me to design and explore ideas,” he said. “It gives me creative freedom.” This month in #BehindTheDesign , we're in #Melbourne , Australia. Watch our story to see more from #BenTovimDesign . Here, his #perfpendant series — hand-blown opal glass with a perforated metal housing.
