TRAVEL EATS: Throwback to an amazing lunch that we had last week at the always spectacular @thesugarclubakl 😍 It’s our first time back since Executive Chef @joshy_b123 took over and they were recently awarded 2 Hats in the @cuisinemagazine good food awards. From what we experienced, a well deserved accolade indeed!! ☺️ If you’re ever in Auckland and have the opportunity for a treat meal, this would be a top pick! 🙌👌
A selection of “Snacks” including: Salt n vinegar Pringle wirh kiwi onion dip. Oyster emulsion and vintage caviar. Then the Wild lamb tartare, chickpea cracker, and miso mayo. And lastly, Ox tail cube with watercress emulsion and pickled mustard seeds. All so very very tasty!
Then we had dark beer bread and marmite butter with Parmesan. The umami flavours in this combo were incredible!
Cured kingfish, fried shiso leaf and purée, pickled goose berry and buttermilk sorbet.
Crayfish saffron linguine, crayfish tapioca, chives and aged Parmesan - a Peter Gordon classic that must stay on the menu.
Hapuka, peas and elderflower and hollandaise with squid.
Cambridge duck, duck leg confit in filo and fried potato pasta, corn sauce, burnt corn emulsion, apricot glaze.
Lamb with crispy sweetbread, green bean purée, oyster creme, and beef fat tuile.
Lemonade, Hendricks and Cucumber cleanser
Kaikoura Fromage Blanc with burnt white chocolate.

I am really happy that Zurich has such a talented perfumer and can‘t believe I haven‘t heard about him and his perfumes earlier. Well, I guess one has to be of a certain age in order to really appreciate these sophisticated scents. Perfectly balanced.

🤰🏻 My pregnancy cravings have been weirdly specific. I crave fries but only from @wendysnz and with Heinz ketchup and their chilli sauce, or @salspizzanz Buffalo chicken but without the ranch sauce (only 1 x slice because they are gigantic), or coconut water with 3 x ice cubes (has to be 3 so I can chew on them afterwards) ... and the list, it seems, continues to grow.
Today, I woke up with a hankering for pistachio gelato BUT ONLY from @islandgelatocompany
Thank goodness Daddy Bear was able to deliver me the goods (albeit with very mild threat over his dinner - ➡️ swipe to see our texts 😂) He got half a tub of pistachio (which I already demolished) and half Pics peanut butter.

Weekend is just arround the corner and I wanted to share a recipe for sticky orange cake, that's perfect for weekend baking and treats.
Because yes, it is fine to indulge yourself and satisfy your sweet tooth!
1. 350g self-raising flour (I used GF)
2. 350g caster sugar
3. 350g butter (I used vegan)
4. 10tblsp of milk (I used coconut)
5. 4 medium eggs
6. 2 large orange (grated rind of)
1. 150g caster sugar
2. 2 oranges (juice of)
3. Squirt of lemon juice
4. Almond flakes
Grease loaf tin. Preheat oven to 180 degrees or gas 4. Put flour, sugar, butter, milk, eggs and orange rind into a large mixing bowl. Whisk with an electric mixer until all ingredients are incorporated. Put into greased loaf tin and bake for 40-45 mins (possible bit longer as I’m doing double recipe), until risen and golden...don't worry if the top cracks slightly.
When the cake has just 10 mins left in the oven, heat together the sugar and orange juice, plus squirt of lemon juice, in a small saucepan. Remove cake from the oven and make some holes in the top with a skewer.
Pour over the orange juice mixture (while the cake is still in the tin) and leave until cold.
Ease the cake from the sides of the tin with a knife before trying to remove it from the tin. Top up with some almond flakes (optional).
