B E D R O O M 🛏 - The painting begins! Today we have primed the walls in the bedroom and the living room. The space is looking so much more put together. We’re going to stain the floorboards in here and we still need to decide on a light fitting!

We’ve got the styles to suit every home, so whatever your preference you’ll get the right fit to complete your kitchen.
Believe it or not, we squeezed two twin beds in the boy’s bedroom and they each stayed in their own beds last night 🙌🏻 HOLLAFREAKINLUJAH, if you missed my stories, Noah was bunking with Finn for the past however many weeks and wouldn’t sleep on the top bunk, so back to twins we went. I don’t play when it comes to sleep, just ask Matt 😉 I hope it’s sunny and warm [somewhat] wherever you may be, my friends ♥️
#kitchenreno progress is slow, but still going. I think I've got at least one more cabinet in me this weekend.
I really want to do a vertical plate rack in in open shelf above the sink, but I'm happy with how its going right now.

Here are the after photos. We ended up pulling about four young #SilverMaple#Trees , a young #Oak#Tree , three thorn bushes, and a dead #Cedar tree with the #backhoe . There were also about four HUNDRED #RussianOlive or #AutumnOlive trees that were cut by hand with my grandpas old coal mine cable cutters. Needless to say, my body is aching. BUT.... we made quite a bit of progress. We ended up getting close to 32,000 square feet of the property cleared today, which amounts to about 3/4 of an acre. There are still quite a few trees that need to be taken down but we got the bulk of the #homesite cleared. The next step is to finish the clearing and then #bushhog the #undergrowth . After we figure out how the land looks taken down to the nub, we will decide on whether or not to disc it. I did want to say one thing before I close up this post. While it was backbreaking work, it was completely worth it to clear this land with my dad. I’m lucky that my father owns a backhoe, but I did almost all of the grunt work myself. Could I have hired someone to come in and clear this for a few thousand bucks? Sure, but it wouldn’t have meant the same to me in the long run. I’m trying to finish this project while building equity in my home. It has always been my dream to build my own home, not have someone do it all for me. It feels good to be working on my own land!
This weekend’s projects consist of putting our new exterior lights up and painting and rescreening the old doors (until I get my new sliders in). Slowly but surely the ugly house has begun to change and looks refreshed. I post pics when the new lights are up 😁 #paintingfordays#outdoorprojects#springtimeweather#homerenovation

Where it all began! Picking up the keys for my first home 😊
Kitchen progress. Still need to paint the wood work, fix the cornices, grout the tiles and there’s a reason you can’t see the floor, but we’re nearly there. 👉🏻 to see the before.
That is not my ‘live, laugh, love’ sign. The previous owner had horrible taste.

Tackling another item on our DIY Reno to do list today - new basement windows are going in!
We have a 100 year old home, and the original wood windows were still in the basement and were long overdue for replacement. I refer to our basement as “the dungeon” as it’s old, unfinished and definitely has a creepy factor to it. You can imagine how excited I am for our new laundry room addition so we can move our washer and dryer out of the dungeon!
It is still an ongoing construction zone over here as we work on our DIY addition, renovations, garage build and exterior work, but hey the sun came out today, the snow melted, and check out that amazing blue sky! I looked back in my phone and found some older photos of the addition/renovation process which started April 2018. So very thankful for my husband who is tackling this larger scale DIY project and all the help we have had from family and friends. It is exciting to compare progress photos and see how far our home has come in the last year!
Here’s the product of painting this pretty thing today!
It was such a nice out + I’m so thankful I finally got to spend it outside, redoing a gorgeous piece of furniture! ☀️ We’ll be using it as a TV stand either in our living room or bedroom, and it has ALL the storage🙌🏼🙌🏼 I absolutely love the farmhouse look, so the white distressed bottom + stained top fit my style perfectly!
I distressed it + left it “antique” looking by leaving some dark areas in the cracks + corners. Give me allllll the distressed furniture😍
Swipe for a before picture.... what do y’all think?

More often than not, homeowners really try to blow it away with the new addition to their home.
Finally having your own bathroom, having a full-sized kitchen or a brand new home office is so exciting, but it is easy to get lost in the excitement and forget that the addition still has to complement the rest of the home.
Great flooring, furniture, sophisticated electrical work, new paint -- but what they might not realize until after the addition is done, is that the addition does not fit with their home at all!
This is much more common than people even realize. Make sure you are considering this before you start.
If you don't want to update the rest of your home, try matching the flooring with the rooms leading into the addition.
If you DO want to update the rest of your home, get a designer involved. A designer will visualize what you need and what you are looking for, while still matching the rest of your home.
Happy Spring friends!! 🌷Last year at this time, we were wrapping up the nine month transformation of expanding our 1970s split level ranch into our family’s forever home. When we bought the ranch, we loved the original layout that our architect & contractor @porche_remodeling was confident we could transform...and the golf course view of three fairways in the back sealed the deal ⛳️ We added the top level which consists of the girl’s bedrooms & bathrooms, added an additional attached garage with a bedroom atop that connects to the main house through a breezeway, took all the walls down on the main level to make it a completely open concept, added a powder room, relocated the laundry room and finally added a front and back porch- phewww what a year!! Oh and we lived in the house with our two small daughters during the entire reno (I wouldn’t recommend that 🤦🏻♀️) Thanks for following our journey- please let me know if you have any questions for us...I’m always happy to answer!!

About to go full Joanna Gaines on this place 🏡 Yes, those are GREEN countertops you are currently seeing.. but don’t get too attached to them. Just posted a quick home tour in my stories going over some of the projects we have planned. So excited to turn this place into our dream home!
It’s a beautiful day for a little home renovation 😍

Laundry ___. Fill in the blank. It’s my least favorite, so can can probably guess what my adjective. But I loved this renovation. Despite being a full remodel this space was much less stress than our guest bath is currently causing us. I think its mainly due to the fact that we are now all sharing one shower until the guest bath is complete.
