Where in Britain would you love to spend Christmas one year? Edinburgh? Bath? York? London? How about a traditional English Christmas feast in front of a roaring fire, surrounded by the most beautiful countryside in Yorkshire. Haworth, to be exact - home of the famous Brontë sisters.
Love this snowy shot by @davez_uk - although there is more rain than snow at the moment here! As it’s the 1st of December it’s time to pop the tree up in the shed. Although Christmas trees can be found all over the world, medieval Germans were the first to fully embrace the idea. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert popularised a new way of celebrating Christmas after an engraving showed the Royal Family around a heavily decorated Christmas tree at Windsor Castle was published in 1848. Amusingly enough, when the drawing was republished in Philadelphia in December 1850, they removed the Queen's crown and Prince Albert's moustache to make them look more 'American'! Mind you, they used real candles on the tree back then 😬🎄🔥
The Black Bull pub, pictured, sits at the top of Main Street, in front of the parish church where the Brontë sisters’ father Patrick was minister. Aye, this is the exact place Branwell Brontë drank much of his health away. The vicarage where they all lived is just around the corner...fancy a visit?

What’s your favourite Christmas film? I’m watching A Christmas Carol for the 900th time whilst looking at this gorgeous shot of wonky York, England by @dianalou9. Spot the little Christmas trees? 🎄
Don’t you just love the way the cozy comfort of this photo. Those glowing windows, ancient cobbles and Tudor treats. Charles Dickens was surely inspired by such views! I wouldn’t be surprised to see a “Scrooge and Marley” sign at some point. The Shambles boast some of the best preserved medieval buildings in the world, many of which date back to the late fourteenth and fifteenth century (around 1350-1475AD)

Tag someone who dreams of living in the heart of the Lake District! Shot by @valds23 of Blea Tarn House // One of our favourite places! Blea Tarn is one of the easiest to visit too, with a convenient car park on the Little Langdale to Great Langdale road. It has a backdrop of the Langdale Pikes, being at the very heart of wild Lakeland // To be featured - Follow this account and tag us in your Lake District shots! 🍁🍂🍁
