We have a course inside our members area called 90-day planning & goal setting 🎯
On each and every course our members give detailed feedback; how helpful was it, what they’d like to see more of, what they liked and didn’t like, all the usual stuff... We recently got this comment:
💬 "Perhaps one may say that these ideas are fairly basic but doing the basics is what is needed for success. So, naming these areas that require the focus clarifies the first steps of action for us. Re-evaluating and building on what we are "doing" will also be valuable as time moves along."
It's a great point and a fantastic reminder to share with all builders who are building their business this year... Go Back To Basics!
Sometimes we’re always looking for the latest & greatest when really, sometimes we just need to simplify it all.
If something isn’t particularly new or earth shattering does it make it bad? Of course not.
Don't confuse the fundamentals of business with being 'too old' or 'out of date'... Sometimes you really should do a SWOT analysis or map out your sales process ✍️👊
Here’s another view of the foundation set up! Just a few small details and we will be pouring concrete any day now! I want to say we are moving pretty fast here for not having our electricity set up yet, and with only 3-2 men working at a time 👏🏼 Grateful!

Flooring was installed today! Well, some of it at least. The floors will be completely done in a few days.
We get so many questions about our concrete floors!
So, if you were wondering too...
We have all concrete floors on the first floor of our house. This IS the concrete that is also our foundation. Our builder simply buffed it and mopped on a sealer that keeps things from soaking into the floor.
We initially picked concrete floors so that we could save a big chunk of money during the building process. We knew we could easily put any type of flooring down later on down the road if we wanted to.
However, now that we have been here almost 2 years, we absolutely love them and don’t have any plans to cover them up!
They go great with the look of our home. They are SO durable and SO kid friendly. They clean so easily. They always look great and don’t show every speck of dirt. They are NOT super cold as you may think. They really smooth and our little guy has no problem crawling allll over them every day!
If it is something you are considering putting in your home, I’d definitely tell you to go for it!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Last week we posted our unfinished bathroom... today it’s (almost) finished! Our tile guy estimated he will be done with both bathrooms by Saturday. 🙌🏻 #prairiecreekfarmwi

To put up the pink and red valentines decorations or enjoy the blank slate? Since we moved in there’s been some sort of holiday decor up around the house, and I’m kinda really digging the simple life right now!!
Insulation Part Two (see last week’s post for Part One). Insulation is chosen based on space available, budget, and other unique functions it may need to perform such as being load bearing or vapour impermeable. #insulation#sustainablehome
While touring through our builder options, we came across this style of pantry that’s actually built into the kitchen cabinets. It’s like a Narnia wardrobe angle to a kitchen pantry. Our oldest likes to lean just a little too hard on hinges. So I’m not sure how well it would hold up in house full of kids, but I think it’s a pretty fun twist! What do you think? 🤔 🏡 ❤️ #farmhousedreams
Sorry this is long but.....We are going to live our dreams, guys! I cannot stop thinking about it. I'm so excited. We found a 13x27 ft tent within our price range that comes with a wood stove fitting. We won't even have to pay it off, just up front cash. My car will be paid this coming December. All in all, I will be saving $1000 per MONTH come May. In December (or before) I'll be saving closer to $1300 per month, and I'll be part of nature again. Woah. We have a piece of land with zero building codes. My animals will have room to play again, and so will we. Not to mention the gorgeous mountain view ill have on a daily basis. We will build a deck to put our tent on from free and repurposed wood. Solar kits aren't that expensive and neither are portable charging stations. Internet now comes on a USB stick....Who wants to be normal and continue the cycle if debt and work? I'm gonna go to the forest w my honey and animals. Wish us luck, and don't let people tell you how to live or what you can and cannot do. Save that money!

Our first kitchen wall is up! I have a feeling this wall will be my favorite wall of the whole house so I was so excited to see it take it’s shape! This will be our kitchen windows where the sink and a dish washer(debating on 2 dish washers or just 1, any advice?) will be.
I’ve been holding off posting updates because I wanted to post in chronological order from the very beginning to finish. But there’s so much footage I need to dig and sort through that I would get overwhelmed and not post at all and say to myself, I’ll just post tomorrow.
But days go on and the house gets more completed and the footage gets even bigger and the overwhelm starts piling up so here we are starting with our first wall and moving forward!
Sometimes in life, we get so caught up on doing things perfectly or waiting for that perfect circumstance or for it to look the way we want it to/think it should look, that we put off living in the present moment.
And instead of celebrating where we are now, we let our past overwhelm us so we live and long for the future, for the tomorrow when we’ll have better timing, more resources or more time.
But time doesn’t hold up for us and every second ticks on past, so we need to move on and celebrate this present moment. Not our past mistakes or our imperfect present, or the better future we long to hold.
So let go of your past failures or living for tomorrow’s success, and celebrate now. For success is not the achievement or the outcome, it is in the very journey itself.
When I asked what you guys wanted to see in 2019, many said more house stuff on my FEED (not just stories) Up until recently, there haven’t been many good photo ops...but there’s about to be! We’re nearing the end of a very long house building journey and right now is the most fun we’ve had yet - watching all the finishing details go up! All the decisions we spent hours, weeks and months picking out - I can’t wait to share it with you. Until then, here’s a peek at some of the exterior details.... •
This is our outdoor living/dining space and probably the area I’m most excited about (please excuse the debris and unpainted columns, this is current state and the best shot I could get!) I can’t wait to furnish this space so we can entertain out here!!! •
At its essence, M House is a courtyard house, appearing closed off and private from the outside, but is actually quite airy and bright from the inside. The garden space in M House gave us the opportunity to create a beautiful, private micro-environment for our clients. #MHouse#AlHumaidhiArchitects
